Meet the Conca team:
Nico uses his artistic skills and conceptual thinking to develop people’s ideas and to create and illustrate presentations. He studied at Stellenbosch University and has a doctoral degree in the field of adult education. He has written, co-written, illustrated and/or developed numerous courses and books. He does pottery and paintings in his free time. I am a concept artist and educator who creates safe spaces for people to grow and play, listen and care and believe in each other.
As teacher I believe in the inherent potential and gifts of all people and try to help them grow into their full potential. I like to do bridge building between different generations. I teach people to have a backward-forward vision and repackage old truths for the future.”
I see myself as an ordinary person helping ordinary people embracing their extra-ordinariness. Since I can remember, I was intrigued by other people’s stories. I never doubted that I would follow a career “listening to other people’s stories”. I studied social work, specialised in medical and psychiatrist social work and worked in different hospitals. I also completed my Master’s Degree in Supervision and Management. I had a long career in the Industrial Field doing counselling (EAPs – employee assistance programmes) and facilitating workshops on personal growth and development.
Nearly ten years ago I started a private practice / business doing counselling and training. It set me free to live my passion: helping people understand themselves better, so that they can become the people they are supposed to be. In other words: helping ordinary people embracing their extra-ordinariness.
I do the above as follows:
- One-on-one counselling / coaching
- EAP (counselling within companies – on-site and off-site)
- Reclaiming your magic by deep-tuning your people skills
- Conflict management
- Mindful wellness journey
- Stress management
- Team builds/ ChitChatCuisine
- Myers-Briggs type indicator

Food is the one form of art which addresses all the senses… and it is also the medium that I use to express myself. I am passionate about my job as freelance food stylist (nothing beats the visual impact of beautifully presented food), recipe developer, recipe column writer and cooking class presenter (gluten-free and wellness cooking classes).
From a young age I have enjoyed cooking and experimenting with food. I have turned my passion into a profession, studied food and nutrition and earned my stripes in the corporate world with job titles such as product developer, food designer and food specialist. And for 8 years, up until 2008, I’ve lectured food styling part-time at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
The Good Food Diet is a recipe-based way of eating. I developed the recipes for busy people on the go who, through eating and enjoying deliciously good food, want to make a lifestyle change and control their health and/or dietary conditions such as cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, overweight, food allergies and food intolerances (e.g. gluten and lactose).
At the Good Food Diet Cooking Studio we cook up a storm! Gluten-free cooking classes and wellness cooking classes turn into communal cooking feasts. It is all about the joy of cooking, saturating the senses and sharing food with others. Best of all is that the food is good for you! No prior cooking skills are required – flop-proof recipes guarantee delectable, healthy dishes.
Food is good – but good food is better.
